This seminar is directed to interpreting and drafting EPO search reports and written opinions.
In particular, the seminar reiterates the relevant regulations, terms and expressions used in extended European search reports (EESR) and international search reports (ISR), as well as the interpretation and analysis of search results and findings of written opinions.
Some selected particular advanced topics, such as e.g. lack of unity, complex applications, relationship between inventive step and sufficiency of disclosure, incomplete search and exclusions from patentability will be discussed and practised in hands-on exercises in two different technical areas (engineering and non-engineering).
