"East meets West" is the EPO's annual forum on Asian patent information. The forum serves as a regular platform for patent information users around the world to discuss their Asian patent information needs.
During the two-day event, plenary sessions and smaller discussion rounds will treat various Asian patent information subjects. Furthermore, participants will be able to obtain an overview of the latest developments in Asian patent data during a poster session. Additionally, there will be ample opportunity for informal contact with experts from Asia and Europe. Optional training sessions can be booked in the run-up to the forum.

Search Matters is an annual event that not only showcases the EPO's patent search strategies and techniques, but also offers an unrivalled look behind the scenes at the Office. According to participants - many of whom are repeat attendees - it is more a "must-have" than a "nice-to-have".
In 2018, Search Matters will be held in The Hague. In a series of workshops, EPO examiners will provide useful information about, for example:
search strategies
CPC
Asian prior art
free search tools such as Espacenet
complexity of searching in chemical or biotechnological fields.
One of the highlights of the programme, which covers a wide range of technical fields, is the chance for participants to talk to individual examiners "at-the-desk" and question them about how they search in specific technical areas.
The programme is rounded off by plenary lectures on the challenges of searching and the internet of things.

World Intellectual Property Day was established by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in 2000 and is celebrated annually on April, 26.
The World IP Day is meant to "raise awareness of how patents, copyright, trademarks and designs impact on daily life" and "to celebrate creativity, and the contribution made by creators and innovators to the development of societies across the globe".
26 April was chosen as the date for World Intellectual Property Day because it coincides with the date on which the Convention Establishing the World Intellectual Property Organization entered into force in 1970.
PATLIB2018 is a conference open to all staff of national patent offices of the EPO's member states and to all staff of their recognised patent information centres.
In 2018, it will take place in Ljubljana, Slovenia, and will be organised as a networking event.
Participants will be able to share and discuss experiences concerning successful initiatives and projects implemented in European patent information centres.
